2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 was scheduled to incorporate the latest V8 turbo-diesel engine but its launch is still pending. The overall specifications and performance of Silverado remains the same. General Motors offers the big hauler-truck in regular-comprehensive and passenger-cargo body exterior. It has a great acceleration power with V8 engine 5.3 liter capacity. The instruments and controls installed are smoothly operated without much noise. Among the pitfalls of this wagon is the scratchy ride with Z71 suspension and uneasy steering handling.

Its actual blueprint is copied to GMC Sierra 1500 model. The rear hinge doors are kept the same in these extended cargos, which cannot be opened from the front separately. Three passengers can be adjusted in standard cargos, where as six can fit in the extended passenger seats. There is a range of beds in 5.8 feet, 6.6 feet and 8.2 feet. In extended cargos the beds are available in 6.6 feet and 8.2 feet in length.

In 2010 lineup all the V8 engines are competent to run on E85 ethanol fuel. The models with V8 5.3 liter capacity have a cylinder-disengagement Active Fuel Management system. An automatic transmission of 4-speed is utilized by V6 and V8 4.6 liter models; where as automatic 6-speed transmission is used in 5.3 and V8 6.2 liter capacity versions. A rear-wheel drive is common in all of them. AWD is available in 2 systems: an Autotrac system that is kept occupied on arid road and the Part-time system that cannot be kept occupied. For an off-road drive both the systems have down-shift gears.

Few of the passenger-cargos having V8 5.3 liter capacity use XFE- Xtra Fuel Economy feature. To enhance the fuel efficiency, particular type of tires and wheels are used in XFE coupled with other aerodynamic and engineering arrangements. These cargos have the hauling power of 10,700 pounds at most.

The hybrid version of 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 includes 6 liter capacity having V8 engine generating 332 horsepower by an electric motor. Both the electric and gas sources can be used depending on the riding requirement with no need of plug-in to get charged. These vehicles have CVT- continuously variable transmission that acts similar to the automatic. The utmost hauling power is of 6,100 pounds by these hybrids.

There are different suspensions available for the Silverado 1500. To have a comfortable drive the Z83 suspension along with Z85 can be opted. Z60 suspension is specially designed for good performance on road, while the Z71 suspension is made for off-road drive. The standard safety features installed are antiskid system, traction control, ABS, airbags for both curtain-side and front-side, keyless engine start, navigation system and wireless communication system. Two types of Silverado interiors are offered namely, luxury inspired and pure pickup.

The vehicles are ranked in 18 categories by Consumer Guide Automotive based on their market grade, cost and size. The bigger hauling-trucks are conventional coupes for heavyweight transportation and lugging. Different cargo designs and bed sizes are available with sturdy diesel or V8 engines.
