Toyota has been making hybrid cars for years and have a great experience which should mean that every new model they put out is better than before.

This is the new Auris Hybrid which is set to be launched in the UK, starting form £18,950. And it’s better than Toyota’s other hybrid the Prius, mainly because at least it looks a car and not an eco-box!

The new Auris comes with a refreshed design, upgraded equipments and improved economics. Standard features include Climate control air conditioning, Six-speaker audio with CD, radio, MP3 file player, USB and Aux-in connection, Front and rear electric windows, Electric, heated door mirrors, Front fog lights, LED running lights, Colour-matched door handles and mirrors, Push-button start, Seven airbags, including driver’s knee airbag, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRC), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC).

The car is powered by Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive with a 1.8 liter petrol engine as the main source of power and an electric motor, which together develop 135 hp.

That’s enough for a top speed of 112 mph and zero to 60 mph acceleration time of 11.2 seconds. As for fuel consumption it does 74 mpg with 15-inch tires and around 70 mpg with 17-inch alloys.

The car is offered in T4 and T spirit trim levels. As mentioned earlier the T4 starts from £18,950 and the T Spirit from £20,700.
