3.72 Million VW Passenger Cars Delivered Till August
Volkswagen does it again, recording a very big number, by delivering 3.72 million passenger cars in the period from January 2012 to August 2012. These numbers, more than anything else, are good for bragging rights.
The brand reported a 19.7 per cent increase for the month of August, handing over 466,300 (August 2011: 389,600) units. Volkswagen Passenger Cars handed over 1.15 (1.13) million vehicles to customers on the overall European market in the period to August, representing an increase of 2.0 per cent. The brand generated growth in particular in Central and Eastern Europe, where deliveries rose by 36.6 per cent to 177,900 (130,200) units.
Volkswagen Group consists of many subsidiaries which contribute greatly to these numbers. Not all of them of course, but those in the Eastern Bloc certainly do a lot.
VW press release:
‘Developments at Volkswagen Passenger Cars remain very stable and the brand enjoyed growth in August, some of it strong, particularly outside Europe. However, the ongoing difficult market environment in Western Europe continues to demand our undivided attention,’ Christian Klingler, Board Member for Sales and Marketing for the Volkswagen Group and the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand, said.
In Russia, the region’s largest single market, deliveries increased to 108,900 (66,900; +62.8 per cent) units.
