Chevrolet Colorado 2010

The 2010 Colorado version has a similar structure with the GMC Canyon. There are slight changes and deducted features from the previous model. The Colorado is available in three styles- regular body, extended body, and crew- cab body. The cargo space of the regular and extended body style can handle a capacity of six feet while the crew-cab handles a size of five feet. Colorado offers four option packages. It compromises of the Work, 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT. A rear wheel drive and four wheel drive is available for all models. Most models have a horsepower of 185 with a 2.9 liter V4 engine. The four wheel drive crew- cab body style has a horsepower of 242 with a 3.7 liter V5 engine. The 3LT model has a typical horsepower of 300 with a 5.3 liter V8 engine. A manual transmission of five- speed and an automatic transmission of four-speed are offered in Colorado’s V4 models. Models with a V5 and V8 engine are available with an automatic transmission only. The vehicle can haul a weight of 6,000 lbs.

The introduction of V8 engine to the new Colorado models made driving faster and towing efficient but the V4 and V5 engine is still advantageous to the car’s fuel economy. The interior of the Colorado is still the same with its previous models. Low quality materials like plastic were used in the interior design creating a substandard look of the vehicle. Ride quality is poor in highway drive. Noise is abundant inside the car and the car is often bouncing in the road.

Colorado is inexpensive compared to its top rivals like the Dodge Dakota and Toyota Tacoma. Nothing is impressive in Colorado’s Work model. It is only integrated with a stereo and an air conditioning unit. The other models are equipped with a satellite radio, CD player, and remote keyless entry.

The fuel mileage of a standard Colorado runs a mpg of 18 in the city drive and a mpg of 24 in the highway drive.  A combination of highway and city drive runs a mpg of 21.

The Colorado is incorporated with safety measures like the OnStar system which is used for communication, antilock brake system, antiskid system, traction control, and built in airbags in the side and curtain portion. The security of the front passengers including the driver is secured with a five- star rating from the crash test note. Although other Colorado models gained a rating of four- star only.

The vehicle is spacious but legroom is limited at the back seats especially with the extended and crew- cab body types. The V4 and V5 engine has a smooth performance but acceleration is still average. Colorado is not a luxurious car. The overall structure is mainly a truck for budget consumers.  This affordable truck can be purchased for an amount of $16,985.
