The new and upgraded 2010 Equinox is fully restructured with major changes in its exterior and interior. It is innovated to be fuel efficient, cheaper, spacious, and technologically advance. Its classy exterior is an eye catcher. A disadvantage of this sophisticated vehicle is the minimal cargo area.

Equinox is a SUV offered in four option packages- LS, 1LT, 2LT, and LTZ. The first model, LS, involves alloy wheels 17 inches in rim, air conditioning, cruise control, adjustable power front seats, full power accessories, backseat that can be slide and reclined, tilt/telescopic steering wheel, OnStar system, and a complete audio system with six speakers. Additional features of the 1LT include roof rails, tinted rear windows, cloth upholstery, compass, and wheels 18 inches in rim for an optional V6 engine. The third model, 2LT, has the standard equipment upgraded with fog lights, remote keyless ignition system, Bluetooth connectivity, leather covered steering wheel, back view camera, auto dim driver mirror, and a Pioneer audio system with eight speakers. The fourth model, LTZ, contains the standard equipment of the first three models plus an automatic headlight, power operated tailgate, rear parking sensor, leather upholstery, heated front seats, and memory function built the driver’s seat. Chevrolet offers additional equipment with the 2LT and LTZ models such as entertainment system in the back seat and a touch screen voice- recognition navigation system.

Equinox models have a horsepower of 182 with a 2.4 V4 engine. The other three models excluding the LS are offered a horsepower of 264 with a 3 litre V6 engine.  An automatic transmission of six- speed is available for both engines. You can opt for a front wheel drive or all wheel drive mode.

Fuel consumption of the Equinox is satisfying and economical. The 4WD V4 engine runs for an average mpg of 22 in city drive and 32 in highway drive. A combination of the highway and city drive totals a mpg of 26. The all wheel drive V4 engine runs for a mpg of 20 in city drive and 29 in highway drive. Combined result leads to a mpg of 23. The front wheel drive V6 engine runs an average of 17 mpg in city drive and 25 mpg in highway drive. A combination of the highway and city drive result to a mpg of 20.

Standard protection equipment in all models include the assisted antilock brake system, traction control, stability control, OnStar system for emergency communication and airbags built in the front, side, and curtain area.

The interior of the Equinox is designed with high quality materials. Car controls are convenient to use. The V4 engine of the Equinox is suitable for everyday driving. This is a reasonable vehicle for consumers with a tight budget who wants to have comfortable and high performance car.
