Connect a socket and ratchet with the bolt head on the puller shaft end. Now twist the ratchet in clockwise direction to take the pulley away form the power steering pump shaft.

Reinstalling a Power Steering Pump Pulley

Step 1:

Begin with placing the power steering pump pulley directly on the power steering pump shaft.

Step 2:

Next continue threading the pulley installer into the pump shaft until it properly placed in its appropriate position

Step 3:

Twist the nut on the installer shaft until unless it bottoms out beside the pulley.

Step 4:

Take a wrench to hold the bolt head on the end of the installer.

Step 5:

After that, turn the nut on the installer shaft in clockwise direction until the pulley is properly installed on the pump shaft.

Step 6:

Take the installer off from the power steering pump shaft.

Step 7:

Put the power steering belt on the pulley.

Step 8:

Next slip the power steering pump away from the engine as well as tighten the adjusting nut.

Tips & Warnings:

  • In case if you don’t have a power steering pump installer you can then use a bolt with threads that usually match the threads on the end of the pump shaft together with a nut as well as a flat washer.   • Avoid using a three-jaw puller for removing the power steering pulley as it can deform the pulley and results in vibrations in the future.
