Land Rover Working On Hybrid, 2WD Models

In today’s world of global warming and expensive fuel you should be prepared to hear anything, even a two-wheel-drive Land Rover!

That’s official. The company just announced that in 2011 the new compact Range Rover will be offered with 2WD system. Of course 4WD system will be offered as well but as an option.

Using 2WD system will help with the efficiency as well, plainly because it makes the car much lighter. They say that it will very light on fuel and will only emit 130 grams of Co2 in every kilometer.

Apart form that, Land Rover and Jaguar are also forced to consider hybrid variants. They are currently developing a new diesel hybrid powertrain to be launched in 2013 promising 100 g/km of CO2 emissions.

Land Rover system is based on a TDV6 Range Rover system called the Range-e. They are hoping to put this system into production in like two years.
