Since its freshening in 2010, the 2011 Acura MDX generally remains unchanged. The premium midsized, all-wheel drive SUV can seat up to 7 passengers.

It runs on a powertrain that has a 300 hp 3.7 liter V6 engine with a 6 speed automatic transmission. The model has a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 lbs.

Standard safety features of the Acura MDX include antiskid system, ABS, and front and curtain-side airbags. These features are standard to all models

It also has a mirror with rearview camera display called the Hill-start assist, as well as a power tailgate. The rearview display allows you to have a better look at what’s behind your car when you’re backing up. The power tailgate serves as a more automated and convinient way to close the tailgate. These are standard features as well.

Other standard features include the sunroof, leather upholstery, a wireless cell phone link, and heated front seats.

The sunroof allows you to have a window on the roof of your vehicle to allow the sunlight to come inside when you want. Take it alongside the leather upholstery and heated front seat features and these make for a better environment inside the car.

There are also three available packages, each priced separately. The Technology Package comes with a navigation system that’s voice-activated and has real-time weather and traffic information, a multi-view rear camera which has a display to an overhead view of the tow hitch or a 180-degree view behind the vehicle. It also has a drive that can store music files as well as a voice-activated playback function called Song By Voice.

Another package is the Advanced Package, which includes the features mentioned above plus an adaptive cruise control, driver-adjustable suspension, ventilated front seats, blind-spot alert, and 19-inch wheels.

Adaptive cruise control lets you easily control your car with a set of controls. You’ll be able to accelerate, decelerate, and do other things with the push of a button. This will come in handy for most cases, especially when you’re taking long road trips.

Blind-spot alert detects obstacles that you would normally not be able to see because they’re within your view’s blind spot, or places that you can’t see from the inside of your car. This allows you to better avoid obstacles.

Lastly, the Entertainment Package includes a DVD system and a 9-inch screen, as well as heated 2nd row seats. This package can only come with either the Technology or Advanced packages.

Expert ratings conclude that the MDX fares a notch better than the usual premium-midsized vehicle. It gets a total score of 73 while the generic counterpart gets only a 71.7. Among the best rated features of this model is its ability to hold cargo as well as its overall assessed value within its class.
