New gasoline powertrains and new transmissions are in for the diesel models of the 2011 Audi Q7. This large SUV by Audi can seat up to a total of 7 passengers. It is also equipped with Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive system. As far as engines are concerned, the V8-powered 4.2 Prestige and the V6-powered 3.6 Premium trim levels are no longer available. In lieu of these, the new 3.0TS line Prestige and the 3.0T Premium is now available in Audi’s lineup. Both new releases run on the supercharged 3.0 liter V6 engine. The 3.0T has 272 hp while the S line runs on 333 hp. The Q7 3.0 TDI Premium runs on a 225 hp 3.0 liter turbo diesel V6 engine. Another new thing is that the standard for 2011 Q7 engines is now the 8-speed automatic transmission. This replaces the 6-speed version of the transmission, which was the previous spec for the model. The vehicle has a max towing capacity of 6,600 lbs. This vehicle comes with a set of standard safety features. These include the ABS, antiskid system, traction control, front-side airbags, side airbags at the 2nd row, and curtain-side airbags. The antilock brake system or ABS prevents wheels from locking when you use the car brakes. The system detects when a wheel is about to get locked and automatically releases the pressure from the wheels in question, allowing your full control. Antiskid systems are meant to keep the driver from losing his or her grip when driving the car. The system is designed to detect if the car has lost its grip. Once it does, it works with the antilock brake system to apply individual brakes to help put the car back in its correct path. The vehicle is also fully equipped with airbags. There are airbags in the front side to protect the passenger seated in front, side airbags to protect the ones seated in the 2nd row, and curtain airbags to protect passengers from hitting the window in case of a collision. Additional features include adaptive cruise control and a driver adjustable suspension. Rear-obstacle detection, keyless access & engine start, a 3-panel sunroof, and adaptive cruise control are also available. Most of these features add to the overall safety, security, and comfort of the vehicle. Yet another main feature of the vehicle is the Audi’s Multi-Media Interface. With the Audi MMI system, you get to access a series of features by controlling a conveniently placed dashboard screen and a console knob. It comes available with real-time traffic information as well as a navigation system. There are also switches that will allow you to correspondingly adjust settings for navigation, audio, suspension, and other functions of the vehicle.
