Mazda Takeri Concept

The Takeri is Mazda’s latest concept car to be shown at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show.

This is a very important concept, because it is the first sedan to features Mazda Kodo design language and because it previews the new Mazda6 and also hints at how the next Mazda3 will look like. And that is just about as important as it gets for Mazda! The Takeri is also an eco-minded car with latest fuel saving techs.

Also on stage and making its Japanese debut will be the new Mazda CX-5 crossover SUV – equipped with the full array of Mazda’s breakthrough SKYACTIV Technology.  Other new technologies and a full line-up of production models will also be on show.

Mazda press release:

Mazda’s theme for the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show is “Environmental Technology, Pushing the Boundaries of the Emotion of Motion.  As long as there are people who love to drive, Mazda will continue to evolve the emotion of motion in harmony with environmental and safety performance.”

The TAKERI concept car exploits Mazda’s new design language, KODO – Soul of Motion, to bring a new level of strength and allure to mid-size saloon styling.  Under its appealing exterior is benchmark SKYACTIV Technology, including Mazda’s first regenerative braking system.  This technology converts kinetic energy to electricity during deceleration, stores it in capacitors and then uses it to power the vehicle’s electrical equipment – reducing load on the engine and saving fuel.  Combined with the new SKYACTIV-D diesel engine, Mazda i-stop, new lightweight structure, aerodynamic and chassis technologies, regenerative braking – enables the Mazda TAKERI to achieve excellent fuel economy together with vigorous performance and a comfortable high-quality ride.

The new Mazda CX-5 is the first production vehicle to feature Mazda’s new design language KODO paired with SKYACTIV Technology engines, transmission, bodyshell and chassis.  With its light weight, aerodynamic form, very frugal and fun-to-drive diesel and petrol engines, plus Mazda i-stop and fuel-saving transmissions; the all-new five-door CX-5 delivers predictable and responsive handling and a smooth ride matched to outstanding environmental and safety performance.  Mazda CX-5 is scheduled to go on sale in the UK during 2012.
