Peugeot 208 Rally

As it’s the tradition with Peugeot’s hot little hatchbacks, they released a rally version of the new 208.

The first competition version revealed is the 208 ‘R2’ which will be campaigned as a ‘zero’car on this month’s Tour de Corse in the hands of Stéphane Sarrazin and Benjamin Veillas. It is the first of three 208-evolved competition cars, as the production car begins to go on sale across Europe.

Based on the production 208, the R2 rally car features a 185bhp 1.6 liter engine, a sequential manual gearbox with steering wheel-mounted knob, sport suspension, brakes and a roll cage integrated into the strengthened body. Despite all this, it is actually 40 kg lighter than the 207 RC rally car.


Prices and Specs:

The gravel and asphalt versions of the 208 R2 will both be available in kit form for a price of €37.500net (c£30,500). This price includes a fully-built engine. It will also be possible to acquire the 208 R2 in fully built form (gravel or asphalt version) for €57.500net (c£46,700).

Two kits will be available to convert the asphalt version of the car to gravel trim, or the gravel version of the car to asphalt trim.
