Peugeot Awarded For Being Stylish and Green


Further proof that the dark ages in Peugeot’s design is now over.

The brand has been awarded for being the most stylish green car maker. Thanks to the new products like the RCZ or 508, and more importantly, the Peugeot iOn, they are back on track as the maker of some of the most memorable cars in the world. And thanks to their hybrid and HDi system, they are very green indeed.

Next Green Car announced its winners of the most scientifically-based Green Awards, finding nine winners from a shortlist of the UK’s greenest new cars of 2011/12, all selected for their environmental Green Car Rating, level of innovation, value, drive experience and design.

As noted by Dr. Ben Lane, Managing Editor of Next Green Car: “The 2011 winners reflect the latest technologies being used by manufacturers to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions.”

City-car 2011: Peugeot iOn – CO2: 0 g/km – GCR (Green Car Rating): 21
“The iOn signals the arrival of the pure electric city car. Practical, affordable, fun-to-drive, spacious enough for four, and a cinch to park.”

Large Family Car 2011Winner: Peugeot 508 Saloon 1.6 e-HDi – CO2: 109 g/km – GCR (Green Car Rating): 32
“A great looking car, the new semi-automatic 508 is spacious and well equipped. Build quality and handling are excellent, with the best fuel economy in its class.”

According to Dr Ben Lane, Managing Editor of Next Green Car: “To complement our Green Car Rating and Approved lists, the annual Next Green Car Awards gives our visitors an additional independent view to help them select their next green car.”

Auto Express, Britain’s best-selling weekly car magazine, has just held its ‘Best New Car’ awards, and has bestowed the ‘Best Sports Coupé’ accolade on the RCZ Sports Coupé for the second year running.
