Gordon Murray’s name will always be remembered with the legendary McLaren F1, even if he’s busy now developing electric city cars!

The new project of Gordon Murray Design and Zytek Automotive is the T.27 electric city car which as they say is the most efficient EV of its type.

But reviewing the first specs of the car that’s been recently released, it’s hard to see why they say that! Because there are already many EVs out there which beat the T27 in terms of performance and range, and price since they are made by mainstream manufacturers.

The T.27′s source of power is a 25 kW electric motor with 12kWh batteries. It enables to car to accelerate from 0 to 60 km/h in about 15 seconds and reach a top speed of 105 km/h.

And with dry weight of nearly 680 kg, it’s just as heavy as a conventional hatchback, so we too wonder what’s that efficiency they have in mind! It also has a length of 2.50m, width of 1.30m and height of 1.60m, and a wheelbase of 1.78m.

Professor Gordon Murray, CEO of Gordon Murray Design said:

“The Technology Strategy Board have been incredibly supportive of the T.27 programme and together we are working to keep this in the United Kingdom.  It is a great opportunity to work with Zytek Automotive and our other partners on this very exciting programme.  We always strive to lead the way in automotive design and our current goal is to maximise efficiency of electric vehicles.”
