It’s been 50 years since Shelby first gave aspiring racers a chance to rent a race-ready Shelby GT350-H from the Hertz rent a car company, and the relationship between Shelby and Hertz has just gotten stronger over the decades.

Shelby American certainly hit one out of the park this time. Take a look at the 2015 Shelby GT, the carmaker’s upgrade package for the 50th anniversary Ford Mustang.

This is the one I had my eye on. Unfortunately, it looks like I won’t be able to get my hands on one. Ford just announced that they’re only building 37 Shelby GT350R Mustangs in 2015. What a bummer! This 500 horsepower V8 is a beast.

Say what you will about public transport and worsening traffic. When it comes to open road, there are still few places in the world where you can drink your fill the way you can in the good old USA.
