The Audi Q7 2011 Model Detailed

The Audi Q7 has downsized its engine within this new model, this is a trend that has been seen in other vehicles within the same category, the Porsche Cayenne and the Volkswagen Touareg are 2 good examples of this.

The overall exterior appearance of the new Q7remains vastly like the previous model, although the engines have been totally replaced. Replacing the old V6 3.6 liter and V8 4.2 liter gasoline powered engine are 2 new variations of engines found within the S4, S5 and A6 models; this is the turbocharged V6 3.0 liter TFSI engine. So the Q7 receives 2 new engines, a new entry level turbocharged 3.0 liter TFSI engine which outputs 272 horsepower with 295 pound-foot of torque, and a more powerful 3.0 liter TFSI engine which runs at an impressive 333 horsepower with 323 pound-foot of torque; this allows the new Q7 model to attain speeds of around 140 mph for the entry level engine and 152 mph for the more powerful version.

Due to the incorporation of the new 8 speed automatic transmission and the brand new engines, this vehicle is able to benefit from much more improved fuel efficiency. Although the exact details for the North American fuel efficiency hasn’t been released yet, it is said to be improved when compared to the previous model. Comparing the fuel efficiency from the European market we can get an idea of the type of improvements this new model has made. The entry level version managed to achieve an improvement of 12 percent while the more powerful version achieved 16 percent improvement when compared to the previous V8 model.

The North American market will only receive 1 diesel engine option, this is the turbo diesel 3.0 liter TDI engine incorporated with an 8 speed transmission. The European market will be blessed with more options, form the standard engine producing 225 horsepower with 406 pound-foot of torque, to the more powerful V8 4.2 liter TDI engine which outputs an impressive 340 horsepower, and finally an incredible V12 6.0 liter TDI engine which produces an outstanding 500 horsepower with 738 pound-foot of torque!

Fans of the Q7 could be treated to more options if enough customers request what they would like to see in the vehicle. For example there is more than sufficient space to incorporate a full TFSI gasoline-electric hybrid engine, these are already utilized in the Touareg and Cayenne models. Another option could be the new and upcoming turbocharged V8 4.0 liter engine which produces 400 horsepower.

Now is a good time to try and score yourself a deal to get an older Q7 with the powerful V8 engine, although it’s worth remembering that the brand new supercharged engines for the newer Q7 model will be released soon and will also offer much better fuel efficiency.
