German bespoke sportscar maker Wiesmann confirmed news about their move in replacing the current V10 engine, which they’ve got out of the BMW M5, with the twin-turbo V8, which they will be getting from the next M5!

Actually, it’s not a decision that they’ve made becasue they wanted to, they’ve been kinda forced into it.

You see BMW has let go of the 5.0 liter V10 and replaced it with the 4.4 liter twin-turbo V8 which is already being used in the X5M and X6M, for the sake of efficiency. And Wiesmann has to follow their lead.

If they wanted to go a whole new powertrain they had to spend a fortune adopting and testing it for their current lineup. But now they just get the package ready to bolt on from BMW! This situation might affect the pricing of the Wiesmann, which shouldn’t be a problem as every car is bespoke to its customer and there’s no fixed price anyway!
