2010 Dodge Caliber

2010 Dodge Caliber is launched with great features, chic interior and gives comfortable ride. However, it is not that exciting as one can anticipate. The Caliber R/T model has a price tag of $26,730 with various features. Nearest trim to the R/T is the Dodge Rush model. The manufacturers have decreased the costs of the sedans; Express base-edition has a price tag of $16,880 and Rush of $19,995.

Dodge Caliber includes a 4-cylinder engine that gears up without much acceleration. It has a CVT- continuously variable transmission that acts similar to the automatic and thus, gives a smooth ride. This car performs well as per its specs having a manual transmission of 5-speed. It is easier to maneuver and park and gives fabulous visibility, but the controls incorporated at the front are not much convenient to operate.

The exterior look of 2010 Dodge Caliber is not much attractive or stylish. The sharp-edgy exterior will receive varying comments from the customers; from cool to funky. The hatchback has an emblematic design of Dodge having the same headlights and framework as that of Grand Caravan and Nitro. Caliber has a great performance with handy doors especially for kids. The hatchback has a sufficient height when opened that you can reach it easily but the doorjambs may hit ones head if not attentive. It includes a 2.4 liter capacity with 4-cylinder engine producing 172 of horsepower. It has good cargo space for your grocery needs and other baggage requirements. It can travel 21/25 mpg on highway and runs on gasoline. It is rated as fair to great in terms of family convenience but without much fun-factor.

The interior of Caliber has been transformed from angular to a curved one. Some chromed details are added in the interior front that gives a pleasant feel. There are no more pointed dimensions rather more curved and smooth look is carried in its 2010 model. It includes leather upholstery, heat optioned front seats and cup-holders just at the back of front mid console area, which are not much convenient for young kids sitting at the back. This model has impressive storage areas like a case inside the middle console just under the CD tray, a cubicle underneath the climate controls to place some of your unseen items, a glove box and Chill Zone section for the beverages. It comprises of 60/40 foldable back seats that give you two times more space for your luggage. Both the storage compartments and cargo space are rated as ample.

The overall latches included in 2010 Dodge Caliber are not much handy. 2-pair of latches and the inner one are positioned at the rear of seatbelts; making it fairly inconvenient to use. A forward- faced convertible child seat can fit easily in the car but the rear-faced convertible seat can only be adjusted if the passenger seat at the front is pulled forward to such an extent that the knees touch the glove box. However, a rear faced infant seat is better adjusted than the rear-faced convertible. The floppy buckles in the car are easily handled even by the children.

Few of the safety features incorporated in the 2010 Dodge Caliber are not standard. The stability control is optional in the car which is worrisome for the safety of a teenager. However, it has airbags for the driver’s knees, front-side and curtain side and antilock brakes. While the traction control, stability control brake assist and airbags for the sides of front row are optional features having the worth of $940.
