2010 Mercedes-Benz S-Class has launched its hybrid (gas/electric) models this year. A German S400 Hybrid was the first hybrid sedan of the same brand. This sedan has 3.5 liter capacity with gas V6 engine generating 295 horsepower by an electric motor. Its specialty is ample room for the passengers that make the drive comfortable with a quiet engine. It is good in handling facilitating a smooth ride. The only cons for this sedan are its inconvenient control knobs.

2010 Mercedes-Benz S-Class has an automatic transmission of 7-speed. When the car is idle or decelerating the hybrid module turns-off the engine. However, the sedan can’t gear-up relying on the electric power and requires no plug-in to get charged. Some latest features are added up for this year’s lineup. The S550 version has a 5.5 liter capacity with V8 engine generating 382 horsepower with both rear-wheel drive and AWD. The superb S600 comes back with 5.5 liter capacity with turbocharged V12 engine generating 510 horsepower. The official AMG performance division handles the S63 along with S65 versions. The S63 includes 6.2 liter capacity with V8 engine producing 518 horsepower, where as the S65 edition has 6 liter capacity with turbocharged V12 engine producing 604 horsepower. The V12 models have an automatic transmission of 5-speed while the S550 plus S63 versions include 7-speed automatic.

The safety features installed in 2010 Mercedes-Benz S-Class are antiskid system, traction control, ABS and airbags for the front-side; rear-side and curtain-side. A standard Pre-Safe system is incorporated that automatically detects any possible accident of the car and thus, firms the seatbelts and exerts the brakes fully. The hottest feature is the Attention Assist- an exhaustion alert system for the drivers, which rings a clang and shows a caution if the driver is feeling dozy.

In addition; COMAND system with Tele Aid assistance is installed, which accepts the voice instructions. This includes a screen with a console knob that directs the phone, navigation, audio and other functions. Some of the other features are front-seats with cooled and massaging option, heat and cooled optioned back seats and engine-initiation remote system. The S-Class also gives the Distronic Plus adjustable speed control and a rearview camera option.

The vehicles are rated into 18 sections by Consumer Guide Automotive based on the basis of their market grade, cost and size. The bigger premium coupes are ranked as top-class in lavishness and size. The manufacturers incorporate ultra-modern equipment and features in their coupes to stand-out and display their craft. Few of them are expensive having 6-digit price.

The best rated coupes for a buy out are Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Lexus LS and Hyundai Genesis. The recommended ones are Cadillac DTS and Audi A8. The newest or the extensively reshaped models in this category are Porsche Panamera, Jaguar XJ Series, Fisker Karma and Lexus LS. For 2010, Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7-Series add-up hybrid (gas/ electric) versions in their lineup.
