2010 Nissan Altima has come up with a refashioned look with delightful interior this year. It is essentially a medium sized vehicle available in both coupe and sedan designs. Altima has a fabulous acceleration power that gives you enjoyable ride. It is boosted with a CVT- continuously variable transmission. However, it is inconvenient with its back seat console and due to its high cost for the hybrid model. In general, the sedan editions are longer in length and wheelbase size as compared with coupes. The hybrid (gas/electric) model is available in the auto market as sedan only, where as the V6 and 4-cylinder engines are offered as both sedans and coupes.

Altima is offered in two spruces; as base model and S model. Both include 2.5 liter capacity with 4-cylinder engine generating 175 horsepower. V6 are named as 3.5 SR that include 3.5 liter with V6 engine generating 270 horsepower. A CVT is a standard feature in both sedans and coupes, which acts similar to the automatic. A manual transmission of 6-speed is available in Altima coupes.

The hybrid versions of 2010 Nissan Altima are marketed in northeastern states, Oregon and California. They have a CVT and 4-cylinder engine generating 198 horsepower by an electric motor. Hybrids require no plug-in to get charged and depending upon the driving requirements can use both types of fuel sources. The safety features incorporated are antiskid system, traction control, ABS and airbags for front-side and curtain-side. Other features are navigation system with rear-view camera. Heat optioned front sets with leather covers are offered in the Altima SL Package.

The vehicles are rated in 18 classes by Consumer Guide Automotive based on their market grade, cost and size. In USA, middle sized cars are most preferred and generally are affordable family coupes or sedans having a conventional design.

The top ranked cars in the market are Toyota Prius, Mazda 6, Ford Fusion, Honda Accord coupe, Honda Accord sedan, Chevrolet Malibu and Mercury Milan. The newest or the extensively reshaped models for this category are Nissan Altima, Toyota Prius, Toyota Camry, Mercury Milan, Suzuki Kizashi, Subaru Outback, Subaru Legacy, Chrysler Sebring, Honda Accord Crosstour and Ford Fusion. For 2010, Mercury Milan and Ford Fusion have added up hybrid models in their lineups.
