The cars of today are designed from the ground up with safety in mind, so achieving really good ratings in different tests is not that big of a thing anymore! Maybe that’s why Alfa Romeo decided to go one step further and make their new Giulietta so safe that it will even covers EuroNCAP’s standards of 2012. In other words, the Giulietta is the safest compact car they have ever tested. It scored 97% Adult Occupant, 85% Child Occupant, 63% Pedestrian Protection and 86% in the new Safety Assist, which means five-star rating is easily in the bag! The car’s safety is down to not only the numerous features installed on it, such as six airbags as standard (two of which are Multistage), three-point seatbelts with double pretensioners and load limit limiters and SAHR (Self Aligning Head Restraints), but also to the design of the strength of the body shell as well. It also comes as standard with the most advanced electronic dynamic control devices (for braking and traction): the Vehicle Dynamic Control system, which manages key functions, like Hill Holder, traction control and emergency braking, the MSR system, which prevents wheel locking when the throttle is released, the DST (Dynamic Steering Torque) system, Electronic Q2, which electronically simulates the presence of a self-locking differential, and the brand-new Prefill system, which alerts the braking system that the accelerator pedal has been released
