The new Chevrolet Volt which will go on sale in selected states very soon is on a slow but steady roll to make sure the production models have got all the bases covered to become the best electric hybrid on the market and beat the mighty Prius.

GM recently announced an eight-year or 100,000 mile warranty for the car’s battery package which is made by LG Chem in Michigan and then installed on the car at their the Detroit Hamtramck Assembly Plan.

The Volt with the current powertrain is capable of driving up to 40 miles solely on electricity stored in its batteries, and 340 miles with the on board internal combustion generator involved.

Recently, President Obama visited LG Chem Compact Power battery plant, a parent company for the project, where he checked out a prototype of the car and got his first seating and demo of this American electric car.

So Chevy Volt is also getting celebrity endorsement, a very vital factor which makes a hybrid car popular. That’s how Toyota managed to sell thousands of Prius’ in the past decade.
