Guide to VW Lupo Tuning


One of the greatest car manufacturing companies is Volkswagen and it has introduced many masterpieces on different occasions. VW Lupo is a petite wonderful car with several features. VW produced Lupo for a duration of many years from 1998 to 2005. Prior to the introduction of VW Fox, VW Lupo ruled the roads for many reasons. Because Volkswagen is one of the top four leading car manufacturers, it leads improvements and researches with different models of cars according to requirement. Although, VW Lupo was a leading but VW fox swapped it later.

With the making of the best part of car design, there was always an interest towards a bit heavy and larger design. VW was determined to stand later in between by making lighter and smaller design. This led to the making of VW Lupo in 1998 and this version became a real successor of VW Golf Mk1. At that time, it was directly in competition with the models of different companies like Fiat, Ford and Opel. When VW Fox replaced VW Lupo, its production came to an end in 2005.

This car received many awards because of it special features, for best small car and best fuel economy award in 1999, and the micro car in 2001. These were the great honors for this car and it shows that it was a great car of its time, still there are many VW Lupo fans. It was generally a 3L car which means consuming three liters of fuel at 100 KM. However, more sample models were also manufactured with further upgrades and modifications. Some most common models are VW Lupo 1.7 SDI 60 BHP, VW Lupo 1.4 TDI 75 BHP, VW Lupo 3L TDI 61 BHP and VW Lupo 3L TDI 61 BHP.

As body parts are concerned, doors, bonnet, wheels, rear-hatch, suspension system and other components were made of light weight aluminum and magnesium alloys, it gained a total weight of just 830 kg. Auto start/stop system and Tiptronic gear box was fitted in the engines. For better weight distribution, the battery was attached at the lower center. The concept of 1 L also came into existence at that time, this means 1 Liter fuel consumption for 100 km. It can be easily noted that most of the models were nothing except upgrades with only few changes made in the original Lupo. An example is the part of upgrade is 3-cylinder engine that used diesel with direct fuel injection and turbo chargers for generating power.
