If you have a dog in your home, then it will surely accompany you wherever you go. What if you go in a truck? If you’re facing such a problem, then we are here to rescue you from such situation. This article will teach you how to build a dog box for a truck.

Steps:

  • The first thing you will think about is the material required to make the dog box in your truck. The material should be selected on the basis of your budget as well as the comfort of the dog. Even if you go with wood, aluminum, metals or even plastics, you may find wide variety of materials of those kinds.
  • Just think a bit about “how big” the dog box should be. When you think about it, two factors will pop into your mind i.e.  the size of the dog, and the size of the truck. You won’t be able to fit a dog box which is bigger than the truck itself. So, be smart and decide the dimensions of the dog box that you are going to make.

  • Once you decide the dimensions of the dog box, you should cut the material into the right number of pieces. There should be six pieces i.e.  a top, a floor, and four sides for the dog box. Don’t forget to make a door on one of the sides – otherwise the dog won’t be able to get inside or come out of the box.
  • Make arrangements for ventilation. Your dog should be able to breathe but there is no need to create windows inside the dog box. Simply, creating some holes will do the trick. Don’t create holes at the top – water may flow inside the dog house and it may disturb your dog. So take care of that as well.
  • Now, it’s time to do some assembling works. You can drill in holes and assemble the different pieces so that it would ultimately look like a cool dog house inside the truck. You may use good quality bolts while assembling the box. It is to be remembered that your dog should be able to get proper ventilation inside the dog house. Otherwise it won’t be able to survive inside it.
  • The flooring can be made a bit comfortable so that bumps and other such things won’t disturb the dog while the truck is on the go.
