On a Ford F-150, fuel pump sends fuel to the engine. On the other hand, there are certain reasons that cause fuel pump to wear out. Pump can have problem due to its gas tank which is not being more than 1/2 full otherwise running the engine on a typically empty tank. In case if it is empty, it can be particularly hard on the fuel pump that may result in burning out while it draws in air and gasoline. So if you want to replace your Ford fuel pump, you first have to fix its problem. Let see how to troubleshoot Ford F-150 fuel pump problems.

Step 1:

First of all, you have to test out the fuse for the fuel pump. Next pull up on the release lever for the cover to take away the fuse cover panel and pull down on the fuse panel cover as well.

After that you must take out the fuse for the fuel pump. To come across the fuel pump, make use of the diagram on the underneath of the fuse panel cover. If you find that the fuse is blown, then take a new fuse of the same amperage to replace it.

Step 2:

Next set the ignition to the “II” position.

Step 3:

Now carefully listen in for the fuel pump to prime. At the moment you are expected to hear a slight humming sound. It will be there for a second or two so you have to listen very cautiously

If you did not find the fuel pump priming and it is getting its power as well then the fuse for the pump is not blown and there is something going wrong with it or else it has failed. Contact a professional mechanic to replace the fuel pump.
