Looking at the 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

Vehicle Highlights

In addition to its recent redesigns in the model year 2010, there are some changes that will be expected for the 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. This is an SUV crossover that has a seating capacity of up to 5 people.

There are four particular trim levels. These are the 1LT, 2LT, LS, and the LTZ trim levels.

Two engines are available for the Equinox models. The standard engine is a 4-cylinder 182 hp that’s 2.4 liters. What is optional to the LTZ, 1LT, and 2LT trim levels is the V6 3.0 liter engine that packs 264 hp. The fact that this particular engine is compatible with the ethanol blended E85 fuel is one of the new changes for the 2011 model year.

The only transmission for the Equinox is the automatic 6-speed transmission. Also available on all models are the all wheel and front wheel drive systems. The vehicle has a max towing capacity of 1.5k lbs, if it comes with an engine that’s a 4-cylinder, but approximately 3.5k lbs. if the engine is a V6.

Safety features of the vehicle include airbags for the front and curtain sides, antilock brake system (ABS), antiskid system, and traction control.

In addition to the safety features, there are also other available features like the navigation system, a wireless cell phone link, power tailgate, rearview camera, and remote engine start. A DVD entertainment is also available, and it comes with its own hard drive where you can store all your music files.

There are also some new features on some of the Equinox’ models, depending on the type of trim level. The 2LT comes with front seats with a heating function. It also has the optional leather upholstery. The LTZ trim level, however, gets the leather upholstery as a standard feature.

One of the unique features in the Equinox is the “Multiflex” function by Chevy. It’s can be adjusted 8 inches forward or backward in order to make room for additional cargo or to suit the passenger’s comfort needs.

According the tests conducted by experience auto evaluators, the 2wd LT model with the 4-cylinder engine takes an enormous edge over other medium-sized sport-utility vehicles that took the same test. Most other models get an average of 52.9, but the Equinox bags a whooping 74 for its total score.

Much of the successful results are attributed to three criteria where the model was rated the highest. First, it’s got incredible front row comfort for both the front-seat passenger and the driver. It’s also one of the better choices for transporting cargo. And lastly, it seems to be one of the better models that can be found in the market today that are of the same class.
