The Volkswagen Passat is classed as a mid-size vehicle and is currently available in 2 body styles; the wagon and sedan versions. The closest rivals it has within this car market are the Nissan Altima and the Honda Accord.

What was new or 2010;

Replacing the conventional and also the only 6 speed automatic transmission option that was available on the previous model is the brand new Direct Shift Gearbox from Volkswagen, this features a 6 speed dual clutch transmission that is incorporated with an automatic manual shift operation. The steering wheel has been redesigned and now is wrapped in more aesthetically pleasing leather. Bluetooth is available as standard now while a touch screen radio is available as an optional extra.

The Exterior of the Passat;

Covering the front fascia of the new Passat is the grille shaped in the same form as a medallion, with sweeping lines adorning the sides of the vehicle’s exterior. The measurements of the vehicle are approximately 188.2 cm in length and 71.7 cm for the width of the vehicle. The brakes that have been incorporated within the new Passat has new technology that removes excess moisture from the brake discs. Some standard features that have been included within the Passat are the new 17 inch wheels and the fog lights. Optional extras include the Volkswagen Adaptive Lighting System and the 18 inch wheels with additional sports suspension.

The Interior of the Passat;

The Passat has enough space to accommodate up to 5 individuals within the vehicle. The Passat’s interior comes equipped as standard simulated leather seats, air conditioning and a CD Stereo. Available as optional extras are the parking assisting system, the navigation system and leather upholstery.

Power Features of the Passat;

The Volkswagen Passat boasts a turbocharged 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine, which runs at 200 horsepower with 207 lb-ft of torque. And now coming as standard for this model is the 6 speed dual clutch transmission that now incorporates an automatic manual shift system.

Safety Features of the Passat;

The Passat comes with a multitude of standard safety features such as being equipped with 6 airbags which include the side curtain and front seat mounted side impact airbags, anti-lock brakes with brake assist, an electronic stability control system and adjustable head restraints.

The New Passat Wagon;

The 2010 model of the wagon is only available in one trim, the Komfort. This is incorporated with a turbocharged 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine that runs at 200 horsepower with 207 lb-ft of torque and a 6 speed DSG automatic transmission.

The wagon has much more cargo space, boasting 35.8 cubic feet to play with, this is essentially a huge difference between the sedan model which only has 14.2 cubic feet available. A strange fact is that the wagon is actually detailed as being 0.5 cm shorter in length than the sedan model. The Passat wagon receives the exact same upgrades and safety equipment as standard just like the sedan version.
