Another truly great milestone has been achieved by Volkswagen Group, as the sales figure for the passenger cars in the first half of 2011 passes the 2.5 million mark.

The Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand reported a further rise in vehicle deliveries during the first half of 2011, handing over more than 2.5 million units during this period. In total, customers received 2.53 (January – June 2010: 2.26; +11.8 per cent) million vehicles.

That’s partly due to the fact that VW owns a number of other brands and their production figures contribute greatly to this record, but they’ve also enjoyed an increase in demand all over the globe, thanks to the improving economy. The brand also reported an increase for the month of June, with 438,500 (June 2011: 399,200; +9.8 per cent) vehicles sold.
