Maserati Charity Golf

Turns out Maserati is not just about glamor and fashion and nonsense like that. They occasionally do something that benefits other human beings as well!

In a recent charity golf tournament Maserati was one of the main sponsors of the Spanish round. On August 20th and 21st “The Duke of Edinburgh Cup”, the Golf Cup of The Duke of Edinburgh Charitable Foundation,was held at “La Reserva” Golf Club of Sotogrande. The tournament was held at the golf course “La Reserva” of Sotogrande, in Cádiz. At the end of the tournament a cheque for €21,000 was presented to the “International Golf Charity ltd” Foundation.

The winners will participate in the International Grand Final at the Royal Household of Windsor Castle, in the presence of HRH Prince Edward the Earl of Wessex. All participants also got a chance to drive the new GranTurismo Sport model, which was a real treat.

The winners, María Lopez Elola in the female category and Pedro José Padilla Garrido in the male category, will participate in the World Final of 36 holes which will take place in the UK from 1st to 4thOctober. The winners will also partake in a friendly tournament at the Royal Household of Windsor Castle, at the express invitationof Her Majesty the Queen of England. The event will end with a gala dinner at Windsor Castle itself inthe presence of HRH Prince Edward the Earl of Wessex.

The tournament, organised in 10 countries, is aimed at raising funds forthe “International GolfCharity ltd”, a charity sponsored by HRH Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh, whichfunds partnerships focused on helping childrenand youth insituations of need.

At the end of the Spanish tournament a cheque for €21,000 was presented to the Foundation, which has raised more than five million dollars over the years.

During the tournament participants had the opportunity to appreciate and drive the latest addition to the Maserati range, the new GranTurismo Sport, which offers increased performance and an elegant sporty restyling. Its 4.7 litre V8 now delivers 460 hp and 520 Nm of torque and goes from 0 to 62 mph in 4.7 seconds (4.8 seconds for the MC Auto Shift version). Intensifying the new sporty look is a new front bumper and new headlamps equipped with the latest generation LED DRL technology, completely redesigned seats and a sportier steering wheel.
